March Rapid Open Meets it’s New Masters
Bushwick Chess vs Prospect Park rematch buds this spring
Alex Fikiet, Danny Vulis and Alan Morris-Suzuki stormed the field last Saturday for the first time since the addition of the NY Chess Club Rating System. 40+ players of all skill levels met the challenge.

Among the three National Masters, two of which played for Bushwick Chess in the NYC Chess Club Olympiad last fall, a packed house fought for ten prizes among all class levels. In a grueling 5 hour battle of rapid chess, the three masters emerged victorious with Prospect Park Chess Club’s NM Alex Fikiet seeing an undefeated performance after a convincing win against third place runner up NM Alan Morris-Suzuk and a final fight against second place NM Danny Vulis.

Hosted at BrookLAN, an esports venue with a stunning production team, the field saw plenty of competition with Camron Hull leading the rest of the pack and taking home not only the U2000 prize but crossing to 1900. U1800 went to 2023 prize winner Donnel Sutton, who made his return appearance with Top Unrated to William Truong.

Underclass prizes were no easy task either with Sam Sharf seeing her breakout performance since Queens United Swiss Rapid this earlier this month and taking home Top Woman Prize with 3.5 points! Baruch College Chess Club’s Mike Ching placed U1600 while this previous U1200 winner Shreyo Banerjee broke through to win this event's U1400. A special congrats to David Petrou for U1200.

The live stream saw a record high viewership and for that we thank you! The interest in New York’s club level players brings home a remarkable victory for the community. Bushwick Chess thanks every one of the players in the community for their participation, both on and off the 64 squares. You can check the full VoD out here and look for each game on YouTube later this week.

Lastly, all players and interested parties may access the full rating list post tournament HERE and we will see all players this Tuesday for regular club night and celebration! Much love chess players and have a stellar week of games.
What an absolute honor spending a day with such stellar chess players. Felt good to be back with the community at large. Looking forward to a year of big chess events leading up to the NYC Chess Club Olympiad 💖✨️♟️
